Music Events in December

Thursday Night Live will be taking a break for the month of December. It will return in January.  Our singer songwriter showcase has been slowly gaining momentum. We of course would love to see some new faces along with our core group.

If you are unfamiliar with the program, it is a chance for local singers to perform their original music for an audience that might not have had the opportunity to hear them.

For the audience it is a chance to get out for an early evening free entertainment, meet other music fans and relax with a cup of coffee or tea and some dessert.

Our next two performers will be locals. Shari Yeomans, you also plays in the band Boot Scoot Boogie, and Mike Ryan, who along with being a solo performer, plays with several bands including The Vendettas on occasion.

If you have a suggestion of a performer you would like to see, please pass it along here, or by giving us a call at 631-288-3335.

Performer Update:

Sheree Elder, who had the biggest Thursday Night Live audience so far, has been quite busy with performances and radio appearances. She will be performing December 6th and 7th for Guild Hall's Holiday Spectacular. Sheree will also be competing at an adult vocalist competition at the Patchogue Theater on January 11th.

We are not without live music this month. The Maranatha Chorus returns the The Westhampton Free Library Sunday December 8th at 3 PM. Please join us to hear this great Gospel group. Call to register!

Zinio Is Here! What is it?

Zinio

You may have noticed this logo on our homepage and wondered "what is Zinio?" Zinio is a platform that allows patrons to read magazines on an I-pad, Kindle Fire, smart phone or other mobile devices. Unlike the e-books, which have a limited number of copies available at any one time, the magazines in our collection have an unlimited amount of copies, so we can accommodate every patron who wants a particular title. You will be seeing exactly the same content that you would with a hard copy of the magazine, and there are bonus features like the ability to do keyword searches, links, videos and more.

When you open the link you will see a sign in page as well as links to a user guide and an instructional video. Both will show you, step by step how to set up your library account and how to load the Zinio application on your device. If there is no app for your specific device, you can view your magazine in an Internet browser.

So take a look, sign in and browse through the 55 titles we currently subscribe to. We are always open to adding more titles, and of course, we are always here to help you in person if you have trouble.
